Building a water slide — Brandon Saul (L) and Kevin Gales (R) assemble an open-topped 42-inch water chute at the Schleicher County Swimming Pool. The men are employed by Water Park Company of Pennsylvania. When completed the chute will measure more than 97 feet but won’t appear that long because of its figure-eight design. When it’s operational, some 800-1,000 gallons of water will spill down the chute each minute, providing a wet and exciting ride down from the 14-foot tall tower at the heart of the slide known as the Splashtacular.                                                                                                                                        — PHOTO BY KATHY MANKIN
