One of Schleicher County 4-H’s very own was one of the 29 youth honored during the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s
District 7 4-H Gold Star Banquet. The annual event was held Monday, November 12 in the Bill Franklin Center in Coleman.
Included among the honorees at the banquet was Garet Swinford, son of John and Char Marie of Eldorado. The Gold Star Award is the highest honor given by AgriLife Extension on the county level. Winners are selected based on their personal development, leadership and achievement in 4-H projects, and on activities and contributions made to the 4-H program.
The annual Friend of 4-H Award is given annually to an organization or individual that supports the District’s 4-H program. This year’s award was presented to San Angelo Stock Show And Rodeo Association for their long standing support provided to numerous county 4-H programs as well as the District 7 4-H Program as

his year’s 23-county Gold Star Banquet conducted by AgriLife Extension was sponsored by the Coleman County Electric Cooperative, Concho Valley Electric Cooperative, Central Texas Electric Cooperative, Southwest Texas Electric Cooperative, Taylor Electric Cooperative and the Big Country Electric Cooperative.
