Thuesen trial nears an end

Brazos County jurors deliberated three hours last Thursday before finding John Darrell Thuesen, 26, guilty of capital murder in the slayings of Travis and Rachel Joiner.

Thuesen showed no emotion when the verdict was read.

Wayne and Shirley Joiner of Eldorado, parents of the slain siblings, were in the courtroom at the time of the verdict. So were John Thuesen’s parents.

Travis and Rachel were attending Texas A&M University and lived together in a home on Walcourt Loop in College Station. It was there that Thuesen shot and killed both of them on March 6, 2009.

John Darrell Thuesen, 26, was found guilty of Capital Murder in the slayings of Texas A&M students Travis and Rachel Joiner. A Brazos County Jury handed down the verdict at 3:17 p.m. on Thursday, May 20th.

Thuesen showed no emotion when the verdict was read.

AUSTIN — The Texas Department of Transportation’s 9th annual Click It or Ticket spring campaign kicks off this month with a warning to drivers and passengers to fasten their safety belts or expect to get a ticket.

 

Tobosa hands top Ranch Rodeo

Fifteen ranch teams gathered Saturday, May 15,  to perform in the  Marty Acton Memorial Ranch Rodeo.

Top Horse honors went to Clint Rainey and  Top Hand went to Colby Frizzell  both from the Bird Ranch, Sterling City.

EHS scholars honored

Eldorado High School’s year end awards program was held Monday, May 17, 2010 in the high school auditorium. Awards were presented to students in recognition of scholastic achievement throughout the year.

One Act Play and UIL Academics were also recognized by Librarian Luann Shipman and UIL Academic Sponsor Teresa Vasquez.

The  Perfect Attendance/No Tardies Award was  presented to Hunter Alvizo by High School Principal Robert Gibson.
