ASU honors 2010 Spring Grads

Angelo State University conferred degrees upon 527 students during the 2010 Spring commencement exercises May 15, 2010 in San Angelo, Texas.

The 2010 Spring graduates from Eldorado who received degrees are Charlotte A. Adame  with a Associate in Applied Science degree and Charissa C. Koch received a Bachelor of Science degree.

 

Children's Miracle Network Telethon

Saigan Hans, granddaughter of Atun Gower and the late George Gower of Eldorado, is one of the 2010 Miracle Kids helping to raise money and awareness during the Children’s Miracle Network telethon this Saturday.

Saigan was born with Dandy-Walker Syndrome, something her mother learned she had four months into her pregnancy.

 

Top middle school students recognized

The Eldorado Middle School Awards Program began with an opening procession of the Eighth Grade Class of 2010 shaking the hand of Principal Kara Garlitz at the High School auditorium on the last day of school, Thursday, May 27, 2010.

Student Council President Bailey Espinosa welcomed each class with the anticipation of recognizing the accomplishments of the students in the middle school.

 

Elementary students honored

The Eldorado Elementary awards ceremony was held Wednesday, May 26, 2009 in the Eldorado Elementary Gym.

The program opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and the Pledge to the Texas Flag with Principal Chad Wright and  Elementary Counselor Cathy Newman as emcees.

Accelerated Reader High Point Individuals from each class were recognized first and presented with a certificate. Highest Point Reader went to fourth grader Anthony Olivares with a 304 points.

 

Class of 2010 graduates from EHS

As strains of “Pomp and Circumstance” were played by the Mighty Eagle Band, thirty-seven members of the Class of 2010 took their final steps together as they filed onto Eagle Stadium track May 28th for commencement ceremonies.

A few minutes later, following a salutatory address by Emily Espinosa and a valedictory address by Timothy Cuevas, members of the class made their way, one by one, to receive their diplomas.

 

Thuesen to die for Joiner murders

John Darrell Thuesen, 26, of College Station, was sentenced to death Friday, May 28, 2010, by District Judge Travis Bryan III, after a Brazos County Jury unanimously found that he was a threat to society and that there were no mitigating factors that would prevent him from being executed.

The same jury convicted Thuesen last week of Capital Murder in the March 6, 2009 shooting deaths of Travis and Rachel Joiner, siblings from Eldorado, who were living in College Station while attending Texas A&M University.
