The Schleicher County ISD board of trustees met Monday evening, September 13, 2010, and voted to hire the Austin law firm of Powell & Leon to begin the process necessary for redistricting following the completion of the 2010 census.

Attorney Sara Leon, who has previously represented the school district on a number of issues, was on hand for Monday night’s meeting. She went behind closed doors with the board as they considered legal issues involved in redistricting. The board emerged from executive session after about an hour and passed a resolution allowing Leon’s firm to begin work in the redistricting process.

Leon was involved in two additional executive sessions during the meeting, the first involving a Facilities Usage Policy and the second regarding the district’s employee leave policy. The board took no action on either of those topics when they returned to open session.
