Doyle wins re-election as J.P.

Tuesday, 02 November 2010 21:21

Schleicher County voters returned Justice of the Peace James C. (Jimmy) Doyle to office Tuesday by a resounding 516 to 102 margin over write-in challenger Shane West. Doyle’s was the only locally contest race and one of the few on the local ballot where the Democratic candidate out-polled an opponent.

Statewide, Texas Governor Rick Perry (R)  cruised to an easy win over former Houston mayor Bill White (D) with more than 56 percent of the vote. Perry’s win gives him his third full term as governor, the job he has held since 2001 when he moved up from Lieutenant Governor to replace George W. Bush following his election as president.

The trend held down the ballot as Republicans carried every statewide office.
