JV netters win 5 gold medals

The Eldorado Girls and Boys Doubles and Girls JV singles teams won gold at the JV Tennis Tournment held Tuesday, March 29, 2011 in Eldorado.

Ashleigh Wright won the girls singles Championship. Wright won her first game agains Amanda Winter of Reagan County 8-1,  then won her second game against Vanessa Soto of Reagan County 8-5.  Wright won the champion match against Samples of Reagan County 8-4.

Madison Albin and Ana Sanchez, Girls JV Doubles team, fought Deleon and Hernandez of Reagan County for the championship. The score was 8-6.  Albin and Sanchez won their first game against Shook and Craig of Reagan County 8-1. They went on to beat Vargas and Hernandez 8-3 and had a bye in the semi final match.

Diego Sanchez and Ryan Espinosa won the JV Boys Doubles Championship. Espinosa and Sanchez won their first round 8-5 against Marshall and Marshall of Christoval. In the second game they beat Mead and Crogon of Reagan County 8-3, in the semi finals they had a bye and then went on to win the champion against Reagan County’s Sosa and Perez 7-4.

JV Doubles Boy’s Michael Bilbrey and Dylan Ramos won their first game agains Wells and Richey of Christoval 8-6,  then lost to Sosa/Perez in their second game 8-2.

Boy’s Singles players Brian Parsley won 3rd place. Parsley had a bye in the first game and won against Scott of Water Valley in the second 8-1 and lost to Smith of Christoval in the semi finals 8-0.  Parsley then went on to play against Garrett Sheppard of Water Valley winning third place.

Cameron Capps won his first game against Steven Garcia of Reagan County 8-6  then lost the second game to Parmer of Christoval  8-0.


Will Barker won his first game against Bryce DelaRosa of Reagan County 8-4 then lost to Garrett Sheppard of Water Valley 8-5.

 

Trustees select Junction architect to oversee

The Schleicher County Hospital District board of trustees met Monday evening, April 4, 2011, and voted to hire Junction architect Walter Curry to act as their representative if voters approve a $17.37 million bond election slated for May 14, 2011.

The board interviewed two men for the job, including Shawn Lavin of Austin. They ultimately decided to hire Curry and he was on hand Monday night to meet with the board and discuss a process for hiring a “Design-Build Team” to plan and construct a new nursing home, hospital and clinic, if voters approve the bond.
